I just want midi to my iPad, not audio pass thru but no joy :-(

Hi,

So after twenty years in music tech I'm stumped for the first time in a very long time and I have to ask for help.

I just want to send midi to my iPad from my PC and use the headphone output to my mixer instead of the lighting USB (I know that's awful but my PC will NOT run asio4all which I think is the worst ever invention as it crashes my PC) as whenever I try to use audio pass thru my Cubase crashes due to asio4all . I'm happy with an 1/8 headphone output if I can utilise my iPad software.

How do I do this most basic of tasks?

I'm sorry if this has been covered but I've searched and can't find it, the routing config I assume has to be set a certain way

Thanks

Jamie

stuck notes with volca keys

Hi

I have a Minilogue sending MIDI to a volca keys and bass through the iConnectMIDI2+. The Minilogue is running into MIDI1 IN. I have MIDI1 IN routed to output to both MIDI1 OUT and MIDI2 OUT. I have the volca bass set to channel 1, the keys to channel 2. I'm simply switching MIDI out channels on the fly on the Minilogue to switch between volcas.

The problem is, notes hang on the keys. For example, I can play one note, hold it down, then play a second note and third note too. The third note always hangs. Continuing playing sometimes cuts it off, but I haven't been able to figure out if there's any regularity to it. If I'm just playing randomly, I get stuck notes all the time.

Setting the volca keys to receive on channel 1 (so that both volcas receive and sound simultaneously), gives me no trouble at all. But having the volca keys on a different channel always gives me stuck notes.

Why am I getting stuck notes and how can I fix it?

Thanks

Just a quick question as I am currently looking for a way to drive music synth apps on the iPad Pro 12.9 from Logic ProX. Does anyone know if the iConnectMidi2+ works with the big iPad Pro? I'm hoping to use apps such as Fairlight, iMini, Korg M3, MS20 etc. Thanks everyone.

how do I do this? Will I still get sound out of my focusrite 212 while audio passthru is going through both iPads. How would i use a midi keyboard in the setup?

[Solved] Transposing Issue

So I have two boards connected via the iConnectMIDI2+ to my iPad (iOS 9.3.3) and am using several tools (but mostly Midiflow) to transpose all information coming from the two DINs. Although all the tools will transpose the notes (I can monitor the information) there seems to be another input that is sending information from the iCM2 despite what is being reported to the MIDI tools as I am getting the transposed notes along with the original notes. I'm wondering what I may have missed here.

Setting Custom MIDI Port Names for OS X and iOS

Changing Audio settings for iCM in iConfig is not a problem, but it is for MIDI.

Lets assume I have four MIDI ports named

- USB Port 1:1
- USB Port 1:2
- USB Port 1:3
- USB Port 1:4

on USB Device Jack 1, but for readability, I want to change their names to

- Port 1
- Port 2
- Port 3
- Port 4

Its simple enough via iConfig.

- In iConfig, go to MIDI Info, and simply type the new names into Port Names.
- Next, got to **Device > Save Current Settings** and the settings will be saved to iConnectMIDI's memory.
- If in doubt, go to **Device > Restore Settings From Memory**.
- iConfig will close and reopen, and the new MIDI port names should be visible in iConfig.
- Open Audio MIDI Setup.
- iCM should be there, but the device will have the old MIDI port names.

Great. But it does not immediately affect how either OS X or iOS sees the MIDI port names!

I found a workaround for OS X:

- Change MIDI port names as mentioned above.
- Open Audio MIDI Setup.
- Open MIDI Window (⌘+2)
- You should see the iCM listed. However, it will still have the old port names.
- Turn off the iCM
- The MIDI Device should be greyed out, showing that its inactive.
- Select it, then press **Remove Device**
- Turn the iCM back on again.
- In Audio MIDI Setup, press **Rescan MIDI**.
- The iCM will appear again, except this time, it will have the new MIDI port names.

So whats left, is how to change the MIDI port names in terms of how iOS sees them! How do I do this? If I remember correctly, I have to reset the iThing somehow. Could you give me some details on how to do that? Thanks!

Hey people,

I was using iconnectmidi device nicely before.. But after upgrading my macos it started to behive strangely.. I can see the device in the audio midi setup,, but Iconfig software just does not recognise the device.. When i try with different macbooks it is working without a problem.. I am using the device to send midi parameters from Lemur App. Also my visual control software VDMX and Ableton can recognise the device but they can't receive any midi signals.. I am on macOS 10.11.6, i tried many ways but unfortunetly i coudn't manage it.. What would you suggest me to resolve this problem? I think there might be a USB driver conflict.. but don't know how to correct this :( any help is highly appreciated..

midi clock through?

I have a few midi pedals that receive midi clock from my computer, they all pass the clock through. I wanted to know if the iconnect midi 2+ would also pass the clock through, I didn't see any options for slave clock in the editor.

New Convert - Trying to do a simple midi connection.

Good evening,

Very sorry for the newb question, but what I thought would be a very simple transition has left me very puzzled.

Very quickly - my setup:

Korg Kronos X88
Yamaha EX5
Korg RK100
Mac Mini W/ i7 Quad Core Processor Running MainStage 3.2.3

I have been using a MOTU MIDITimepiece A/V USB - Korg Kronos Midi IN/OUT into port 1 of the MTPAV, EX5 Midi IN/OUT into port 2 of the MTPAV, and the Korg RK100 Midi OUT to port 7 midi IN. The major function of importance is the filtering of Active Sensing information from the EX5, as it clogs up the Midi data stream and causes all kinds of problems when playing MainStage VI's. MTPAV does filter Active Sensing and works perfectly. The main reason I chose the iConnectMidi2+ was because it also will filter Active Sensing.

I wanted to use the iConnectMidi2+ so I could connect the EX5 directly to the Mac via USB and eliminate the MTPAV. I can connect the Kronos directly to the Mac via it's on USB port, and the RK100 could connect using DIN 2 IN of the IConnectMidi2+ until I upgrade to an Alesis Vortex. I connected the iCM2+ USB port 2 to the Mac. I connected the EX5 Midi IN/OUT to the corresponding DIN IN/OUT of the iCM2+. I then used Audio / Midi setup to confirm the Mac could see the iCM2+ and connect the EX5 IN/OUT to the iCM2+ DIN 1 port through software.

MainStage sees the EX5 port I created and assigning it to the on-screen keyboard in MainStage is easy. I have MainStage set up to send patch change information to the EX5 when I change patches and it works, no problem. However, when I play the keys on the EX5 I see no Midi into MainStage.

I use a program called Midi Monitor to check data coming into the Mac from various keyboards. While connected to the MTPAV it sees note data from the EX5, but when connected to the iCM2+, there is no note data being received by the computer. What I DO see in Midi Monitor is a time stamp, from Source DIN 1 and the word "Reset". One time I saw the word "Continue". But no note data.

Things i have tried:

Reseting the iCM2+ back to factory settings.
Changed different Midi Cables to confirm they work.

I would appreciate some assistance.

Simple Setup - why is this so frustrating?

I am having such a difficult time setting up what I think should be a very simplified scenario. All I want to do is have my iPad talk back and forth to my synth via DIN1 MIDI IN and OUT

However I'm not getting anything from the MIDI OUT. The iConnect has the default setup and all I am doing is connecting DIN 1 to my synth (MIDI IN and OUT), and the lightning cable to my iPad. I can record in FL Studio and Designer MIDI Pro 2 is able to learn MIDI commands from the MIDI IN, but neither of these applications will transmit to the synth.

The MIDI cables are good and plugged in correctly, and the synth is set to receive - I checked all of this by connecting a controller keyboard to the synth.

Can anyone help? What do I need to do to create a setup that sends and receives MIDI between my iPad and a synth using DIN1?

Linux?

Does anyone here can share / have had any experience in using iConnectMIDI2+ with Linux? Specifically,

- MIDI between iOS devices and Linux computers - does it work?
- Audio between iOS devices and Linux computers - does it work?

I intend to buy one, and I use a Linux computer for my musical nuissances.. And would love if any good soul that has one of these could share some light (or perhaps test and give us some feedback?)

Dev team? Any thoughts?

Sorry for bothering you and thanks for a possible reply.
